TCS3472 Color Sensor Evaluation Board

This was a simple board made for the purpose of exploring remote work (hardware and software separated by 100s of miles). The hardware was decided upon and finished in Eagle and sent to OSH Park for fab. The board was squeezed into a small area for a low cost breakout, but honestly should have been larger for usability. While Adafruit does offer essentially the same board for $8, this was designed as practice without using any of the Adafruit resources. (or the board design!). The TCS3472 is a I2C controlled RGB color sensor with a very small form factor and costs around $5.


This project uses level translators to change from 5V logic coming in from the 0.1" header to 3.3V logic of the sensor. The translator is an easy circuit using a 2N7002 N-Channel MOSFET. The circuit can be seen here: Level Translator Ciruit

The final boards turned out good and worked! Since the board was only 2 layers, the routing was interesting on a few parts.
